About This Trail

A family-friendly 2-mile round-trip in the Old Forge area to a restored fire tower on a 2,350-foot summit with open rock and excellent Adirondack lake views. The Rondaxe Fire Tower provides panoramic views of the Fulton Chain of Lakes. One of the most popular and accessible fire tower hikes in the Adirondacks.

Getting There

From Old Forge, take Route 28 north 4.4 miles past Enchanted Forest Water Park. Turn left onto Rondaxe Road. The trailhead parking is approximately 1,000 feet ahead on the left, with signs for the Bald Mountain Fire Tower Trail.
