About This Trail

Big Rock Nature Trail is an easy and family-friendly 1.4-mile loop trail located in the Smithgall Woods State Park in White County, Georgia. The trail gets its name from the impressive rock formations found along the path, which provide excellent opportunities for exploration and photography. The well-maintained trail winds through a diverse Appalachian forest featuring towering hemlocks, rhododendrons, and mountain laurels. Getting There

From Helen, take GA 75 north to GA 75A. Turn right and continue to the Smithgall Woods State Park entrance. Follow park signs to the Big Rock Nature Trail parking area.
