About This Trail

The trail around El Lieutenant combines portions of Bill Kimball Trail and Coldspring Branch Trail to create a 4.6-mile loop. Bill Kimball Trail is the more difficult of the two, but it is also more scenic. The trail is recommended only for experienced hikers, as the trail is steep, rocky, and uneven.

Getting There

From Greenville, SC, take US 276 north approximately 20 miles to Jones Gap State Park. The Coldspring Branch Trail is accessible from the park trail system.
