About This Trail

A 1.4-mile rugged route between the C&O Canal and the Potomac River near Great Falls, requiring only one brief rock scramble. Less strenuous than Section A, it offers riverside views accessible from Carderock Recreation Area with no entrance fee.

Getting There

From Potomac, MD, take MacArthur Boulevard south. Park at the Old Anglers Inn parking lot on MacArthur Boulevard. Access the C&O Canal towpath and walk upstream to the Billy Goat Trail Section B entrance, marked with blue blazes.
