About This Trail

Rocky, rooty 8-mile corridor along the Potomac River through Riverbend Park, Great Falls Park, and Scott’s Run Nature Preserve in Fairfax County. Steep climbs and sure-footed scrambles reward with river overlooks and island views. Part of the 710-mile Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail network designated by Congress in 1983.

Getting There

From McLean, take the George Washington Memorial Parkway north along the Potomac River. Access the trail from Theodore Roosevelt Island parking lot or Turkey Run Park off the GW Parkway.
