About This Trail

A 4.1-mile paved trail built on a former railway bed along the Licking River through 970-acre Blackhand Gorge State Nature Preserve. Named for a large hand-shaped petroglyph carved by Native Americans into the sandstone cliffs, the wheelchair-accessible route passes old quarry wetlands, canal lock remnants, and towering Blackhand sandstone walls.
