About This Trail

Winding through a cypress island at the north end of Bluff Lake in Noxubee National Wildlife Refuge, this boardwalk leads to a roofed overlook. During summer, thousands of nesting egrets, herons, and ibis fill the rookery visible from the platform, with alligators inhabiting the waters below.

Getting There

From Starkville, drive south on MS-25 to Noxubee County. Turn onto Blackjack Road and follow signs to Sam D. Hamilton Noxubee National Wildlife Refuge. The boardwalk is at Bluff Lake.
