About This Trail

This 0.9-mile boardwalk route in Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge crosses tidal salt marsh habitat in one of the mid-Atlantic’s premier birding destinations, spanning 16,251 acres along the Delaware Bay. The elevated walkway passes through forest and upland fields before reaching the marsh, where migrating shorebirds, waterfowl, and wading birds gather by the thousands.

Getting There

From Smyrna, take Route 9 north 2 miles, then turn right onto Whitehall Neck Road to the Bombay Hook NWR entrance at 2591 Whitehall Neck Road. The boardwalk trail is near the visitor center.
