About This Trail

Climb 2,583 feet over 6.8 miles round trip to Vermont’s only undeveloped 4,000-foot peak via this historic 1912 trail. Above the alpine zone sign, the exposed summit offers views from Mount Washington to the Adirondacks across the Champlain Valley.

Getting There

From North Duxbury, turn south on Camel's Hump Road from River Road and travel 3.2 miles to the trailhead parking at the end of the road. The Monroe Trail ascends the eastern flank of the mountain.
