About This Trail

Leading one mile through thick rhododendron tunnels to the 1836 Henry Clay Iron Furnace, this moderately graded path is Coopers Rock’s most popular hike. The 30-foot stone furnace, the first steam-powered blast furnace in western Virginia, stands as a truncated pyramid amid the forest near Cheat Lake.
