About This Trail
This 2.4-mile bay-side loop on Burton Island Nature Preserve features raised boardwalks crossing salt marshes with views of Indian River Bay, protecting critical nesting grounds for Diamondback Terrapins. The flat grassland and wetland-margin trail is best visited in cooler months when insect pressure drops, and access may be restricted on certain days during hunting season.
