A scenic approach to Mount Mansfield’s southern summit via the Maple Ridge and Butler Lodge trails, offering rugged rocky scrambles with spectacular Champlain Valley views. The 3,940-foot Forehead supports rare alpine tundra and provides 360-degree panoramas away from the crowds at the Chin.

Getting There

From Stowe, take VT-108 north to the Long Trail trailhead parking area. The Forehead is reached via the Long Trail ridgeline heading south toward Mount Mansfield's summit features.
