About This Trail
A paved 5-mile trail paralleling the Patapsco River and B&O Railroad through the historic Avalon area, passing ruins of the 1856 Orange Grove Flour Mill and the site of the Bloede Dam, America’s first submerged hydroelectric dam. The route follows the nation’s first 13 miles of railroad track, laid in 1830.
