About This Trail

A peaceful 2.7-mile loop circling Grout Pond through low-lying forests in the Green Mountain National Forest, marked by blue diamond blazes. Bog bridges cross muddy stretches, and the shoreline offers quiet wildlife viewing and backcountry campsites. Best enjoyed in fall when foliage peaks and summer mud and insects subside.

Getting There

From West Wardsboro, take the Stratton-Arlington Road (Kelley Stand Road) west about 6 miles and turn left onto Forest Road 262. Follow FR-262 to its end at the Grout Pond trailhead parking area.
