About This Trail
Vermont’s steepest trail, climbing 1.5 miles at nearly 45 degrees directly to the 4,395-foot Chin of Mount Mansfield with Class 2-3 scrambling over wet rock slabs and fixed metal bars. Descent via this route is strongly discouraged; most hikers return on the Long Trail for a safer loop.
