About This Trail

A strenuous ascent to the second-highest Catskill peak at 4,040 feet, home to the highest fire tower in New York State. The Spruceton Trail covers 7 miles round-trip on a former jeep road, while the steep Becker Hollow route climbs 2,000 feet in just 2 miles. The tower offers 360-degree views of the Hudson Valley and Berkshires.

Getting There

From Tannersville, take NY-214 south. The Becker Hollow Trailhead is located just over a mile south of Route 23A, marked by a kiosk and stone gateway. This is the shortest route to the fire tower.
