About This Trail
Keown Falls Loop Trail is a scenic 1.7-mile loop in Walker County, Georgia, leading to both beautiful Keown Falls and an observation deck with sweeping views of Furnace Valley and Horn Mountain. The main waterfall cascades approximately 40 feet down a rock face, with a second smaller falls located just beyond. The observation platform provides a unique perspective looking down at the falls and across the forested valley below. The trail climbs steadily through a forest of mixed hardwoods and mountain laurels, with moderate difficulty suitable for most hikers. Spring brings blooming wildflowers and the falls run strongest after winter and spring rains. The combination of waterfall scenery and valley overlooks makes this one of the most rewarding short hikes in Northwest Georgia. The trail can be combined with other paths at the Johns Mountain area for extended adventures.
