About This Trail

Laurel Ridge Interpretive Trail is a short but educational 0.4-mile loop in Murray County, Georgia’s Fort Mountain State Park. This easy, family-friendly trail features interpretive signs that explain the natural and cultural history of the area, including information about the park’s mysterious ancient stone wall believed to have been built by Native Americans. The path winds through a forest of mountain laurels, rhododendrons, and mixed hardwoods, offering beautiful scenery throughout the year. Spring brings spectacular mountain laurel blooms, while fall transforms the forest with vibrant colors. Getting There

From Chatsworth, take GA 52 east for approximately 7 miles to Fort Mountain State Park. The trailhead is located near the park office and visitor center.
