About This Trail

Epic 72-mile rail trail coursing through 10 tunnels and across 36 bridges in north-central West Virginia. Highlights include the 2,297-foot Central Station Tunnel and the reportedly haunted Silver Run Tunnel. Following the Hughes River valley on grades never exceeding 1.5 percent, it suits hikers, cyclists, and horseback riders alike.

Getting There

From Parkersburg, take US-50 east to Ritchie County. The North Bend Rail Trail has multiple access points, including trailheads in Cairo and Ellenboro along the former railroad corridor.
