About This Trail

Route to Shenandoah’s tallest waterfall, a 93-foot cascade in the park’s North District near Mathews Arm Campground. Covering 5.1 miles round trip with 1,291 feet of elevation gain, the moderately strenuous trail rewards spring visitors with peak water flow. Canyon viewpoints reveal dramatic rock formations along Overall Run.

Getting There

From Front Royal, take US-340 south to VA-55 west. Turn right onto VA-638 (Bentonville Road) and follow to the trailhead parking at the Thompson Hollow area in Shenandoah National Park.
