About This Trail

A backcountry route into the Pharaoh Lake Wilderness, the largest wilderness area in the eastern Adirondacks. The trail from Putnam Pond covers about 5 miles one way to the lakeshore, passing through remote forest and stream crossings. Lean-tos and primitive campsites make this a popular backpacking destination.

Getting There

From I-87, take Exit 28 and follow NY-74 east about 12 miles. Turn right onto CR-39 (Putts Pond Road) and continue about 4 miles to the Putnam Pond Campground parking area.
