About This Trail

A 2.5-mile loop descending to the ruins of Rose Island, a 1920s amusement park destroyed by the 1937 Ohio River flood, with interpretive signs identifying old rides and structures. The trail offers broad river overlooks and rolling woodland terrain across Charlestown’s 5,100 acres.

Getting There

From I-65, take SR-62 east approximately 8 miles through Charlestown to Charlestown State Park at 3000 State Park Drive. Take Trail 3 south to the Portersville Bridge to reach the Rose Island Loop.
