About This Trail

A nearly four-mile loop on the highest section of the Shawangunk Ridge, featuring talus ice caves with a constant 55-degree temperature, dwarf pitch pine barrens, and cliff-edge views. The route includes ladders, boardwalks, and a stone staircase through the cave crevices. Reservations required on weekends and holidays.

Getting There

From the NY Thruway (I-87), take Exit 16 to Route 17W, then Exit 119 to Route 302. Turn left onto Route 52, right on Cragsmoor Road, and right on Sam's Point Road to the preserve entrance at 400 Sam's Point Road, Cragsmoor.
