About This Trail

A companion rim trail along the south edge of Taughannock gorge, providing forested overlooks above the dramatic shale canyon and its 215-foot waterfall. The path runs roughly parallel to the North Rim Trail across the gorge. Connects to the base gorge trail for a complete loop.

Getting There

From Ithaca, drive north 9.5 miles on NY-89 to Taughannock Falls State Park. Park at the gorge trail parking area at 1738 NY-89. The South Rim Trail begins from the upper parking areas off NY-89.
