About This Trail

Following a grass-covered old road through Congaree National Park’s floodplain forest, this flat trail ends where the historic Bates Ferry once crossed the Congaree River. Along the way, hikers pass the General Greene Tree, a massive old-growth bald cypress, and remnants of a 1923 bridge at the river’s edge.
