Cascades Trail
Hike to a waterfall in E. B. Jeffress Park
About This Trail
Cascades Trail is a scenic 1-mile out-and-back hike in Watauga County, North Carolina, that leads to a beautiful cascade waterfall along E.B. Jeffress Park on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The moderately easy trail descends through a lush forest of rhododendrons, hemlocks, and hardwoods to reach the picturesque falls, which tumble over moss-covered rocks in a series of cascades. The trail features some steps and moderate elevation change, but is suitable for most hikers with reasonable fitness. Spring and early summer bring blooming wildflowers and rhododendrons, while autumn transforms the forest into a spectacular display of fall colors. An overlook platform at the falls provides excellent views and photo opportunities. This trail is part of the E.B. Jeffress Park area, which also includes a historic cabin and the Cool Springs Baptist Church.
