About This Trail

A 1.8-mile trail through Chaparral Prairie, one of Ohio’s rarest plant communities in Adams County at the western edge of the Appalachian Plateau. Seasonal wildflower displays include prairie grasses, asters, and goldenrods in open glades transitioning to mixed oak woodland, part of the Edge of Appalachia’s globally significant biodiversity corridor.

Getting There

From West Union, take SR-247 north approximately 0.7 miles. Turn left onto Chaparral Road. The Chaparral Prairie State Nature Preserve entrance is on the left, well marked with signs.
