About This Trail

An easy, family-friendly path through the Catoctin Mountains to Maryland’s tallest waterfall, the 78-foot Cunningham Falls. The gentle Lower Trail avoids the rocky terrain of the parallel Cliff Trail, making it ideal for hikers of all ages and abilities.

Getting There

From Thurmont, take MD-77 west approximately 3 miles into Cunningham Falls State Park. Park at the William Houck Area lot and follow signs to the Lower Trail and boardwalk to the falls.
