About This Trail
Ascending 2,000 feet over 3 miles to Calloway Peak at 5,946 feet on Grandfather Mountain, this strenuous trail features fixed ladders and cables through the steepest upper sections. Pioneered by a Boy Scout troop, the route from Blue Ridge Parkway milepost 299.9 requires a free hiking permit and delivers spectacular high-altitude views.
