About This Trail

A 2.5-mile trail through Dysart Woods, a 400-acre preserve containing Ohio’s only known remaining remnant of mixed mesophytic old-growth forest. The 50-acre ancient core features towering white and red oaks, American beech, and sugar maple specimens on the unglaciated Allegheny Plateau in Belmont County, now managed by Captina Conservancy.

Getting There

From St. Clairsville, take I-70 west to OH-149 south. Continue to Belmont County Road 58 east. Follow signs to Dysart Woods, an old-growth forest preserve. The trailhead parking is at the end of the access road.
