About This Trail

A 0.9-mile seasonal trail to the Rock River Canyon Ice Caves in the 4,000-acre Rock River Canyon Wilderness within Hiawatha National Forest. From January through March, melting snow refreezes over sandstone ledges to form spectacular ice curtains, columns, and caverns. The forest trail is relatively flat but can be icy; microspikes recommended in winter.
