About This Trail

A 7.9-mile route along the northern cliffs of Grand Island, accessible by ferry from Munising, with ridgeline views of Lake Superior and the Pictured Rocks coastline. The trail reaches elevations over 800 feet with steep sections and mixed forest travel. Part of the 20.6-mile Grand Island Loop through Hiawatha National Forest.

Getting There

From Munising, take M-28 west to M-94 and drive southwest 9 miles to the Grand Island trail system trailhead on the north side of M-94, opposite Ackerman Lake. A ferry provides access to the island itself.
