About This Trail

Part of Mammoth Cave’s famous Historic Tour, Fat Man’s Misery is a winding keyhole-shaped passage roughly hip-width at its narrowest, located one mile from the cave entrance. Navigating twists, low ceilings, and tight squeezes leads to the aptly named Great Relief Hall beyond.

Getting There

From Cave City, take I-65 south to Exit 48 for KY-255. Follow KY-255 west to Mammoth Cave National Park. Fat Man's Misery is part of the Historic Cave Tour, departing from the Visitor Center.
