About This Trail

A short, steep loop in Acadia National Park climbing 266 feet to the summit of Flying Mountain, where hikers are rewarded with sweeping views of Somes Sound, Valley Peak, and Northeast Harbor. The descent leads to Valley Cove, a secluded rocky beach tucked between forested ridges.

Getting There

From Southwest Harbor, take ME-102 north and turn east onto Fernald Point Road. Follow it 0.8 miles to the well-marked Flying Mountain trailhead parking area in Acadia National Park.
