About This Trail

This 1.8-mile loop explores the WWII-era Fort Miles military complex at Cape Henlopen, passing concrete observation towers, gun emplacements, and Battery 519 that once defended the Delaware Bay from enemy submarines. Interpretive panels detail the fort’s wartime history, and hikers can climb the restored 75-foot fire control tower for 360-degree coastal panoramas.
