About This Trail

Starting across from Dickey Ridge Visitor Center at Skyline Drive mile 4.6, this self-guided 1.2-mile loop explores the remains of the Fox family homestead dating to 1856. Stone walls, a family cemetery, and periwinkle flowers planted by former residents trace the story of mountain families displaced when Shenandoah became a national park.

Getting There

From Front Royal, enter Shenandoah National Park and drive to the Dickey Ridge Visitor Center at Skyline Drive Mile 4.6. Park in the visitor center lot and cross Skyline Drive to reach the Fox Hollow Trail.
