About This Trail

One of New England’s finest hikes, this strenuous 8.3-mile loop summits three 4,000-footers including Mount Lafayette at 5,248 feet. Over a mile of exposed ridgeline walking above treeline delivers sweeping views into Maine, Vermont, and Quebec on clear days.

Getting There

From Lincoln, take I-93 north through Franconia Notch to the Lafayette Place parking area. The trailhead for the Old Bridle Path, which begins the Franconia Ridge Loop, is on the east side of the road across from the campground.
