About This Trail

A historic route built in the 1870s ascending from Franconia Notch to the AMC Greenleaf Hut and Mount Lafayette, with repeated viewpoints at rocky outcrops along the way. The trail gains 3,400 feet over 3.8 miles and serves as the descent leg of the popular Franconia Ridge Loop.

Getting There

From I-93, take Exit 34A to Lafayette Place in Franconia Notch State Park. The Old Bridle Path trailhead is at the Lafayette Place parking area. If northbound, pass Exit 34A and exit at the Trailhead Parking sign.
