About This Trail
Descending a gravel administrative road in New River Gorge National Park, this 1.4-mile route reaches the Nuttallburg coal mine’s headhouse where Henry Ford once held ownership. Ruins of the drift mine in the 3.5-foot-thick Sewell Coal Seam, which operated from 1873 to 1958, line the steep descent.
