About This Trail
An easy 1.2-mile loop through a 122-acre grove of 300-to-400-year-old white pines and hemlocks, one of the last old-growth stands in the Allegheny National Forest. Some white pines tower over 150 feet above the fern-carpeted forest floor. Interpretive signs explain the ecology that allowed these ancient trees to survive when surrounding forests were logged in the late 1800s.
