About This Trail
The loop, which begins with the Lower Mount Cammerer Trail, rises and falls along ridges until its junction with the Appalachian Trail at 7.4 miles. Turn right on the AT and you will reach Mount Cammerer Trail in 2.3 miles. The firetower on Mount Cammerer is the only one open to the public in Great Smoky Mountain National Park, and is .6 mile down Mount Cammerer Trail. Return to the AT and follow it for another 2.1 miles and you will reach its junction with the Low Gap Trail, which will lead back to Cosby Campground, where you began.
