Mill Shoals Trail
Pleasant hike through the woods near Mill Shoals Creek
The trail begins about 0.3 mile up FS 236 from the parking lot. There is limited pull-off parking along FS 236, but the Forest Service has requested that these spaces be reserved for campers, and that hikers park at the lot.
Visitors should call Camp Frank D. Merrill in Dahlonega (706-864-3367) to check the schedule of the Army's activity in the area before planning the trip, as regular training exercises are conducted there that would undoubtedly disturb the peace of the hike.
The trail crosses Mill Shoals Creek at mile 1.4, then leads up to FS 39, which it follows for a mile. The junction of FS 39 (Duncan Ridge Road) and an old woods road at Shope Gap marks the end of the trail.
Length: 2.5 miles
Difficulty: 4
