About This Trail

Descending 4,560 feet via a dozen switchbacks through dense hemlock forests in Cherokee National Forest’s Bald Mountains, this 2.8-mile trail rejoins the Horse Creek Trail above Horse Creek Recreation Area. Popular with mountain bikers in the Bald Mountain Ridge Scenic Area, with remote backcountry and wildflower-filled coves.

Getting There

From Flag Pond, take Forest Road access into Cherokee National Forest. The Poplar Cove Trail connects from the Horse Creek area via the Jennings Creek Trail off Howard Creek Road.
