About This Trail
Interpretive trails traverse the site of the Civil War’s Black Thursday, where Lee lost 7,700 men on April 6, 1865. Seven marked paths cross the battlefield, passing the Hillsman House field hospital and Sailor’s Creek, just 72 hours before Lee’s surrender at Appomattox.
