About This Trail

Accessible boardwalk leading to Sand Cave, where Floyd Collins was famously trapped in February 1925, drawing international attention for sixteen days. Interpretive signs and a viewing platform at the cave entrance make this a quick but historically significant stop near Mammoth Cave.

Getting There

From Cave City, take I-65 south to Exit 53, then follow KY-70 west to Mammoth Cave National Park. The Sand Cave Trail is a short walk near the park visitor center off Mammoth Cave Parkway.
