About This Trail

Following the North Country Trail through Slippery Rock Creek Gorge, a National Natural Landmark, this route traverses steep terrain with significant elevation changes down to Walnut Flats, a broad alluvial floodplain in the gorge’s deepest section. Glacially carved boulders, waterfalls, and hemlock-lined creek banks define the landscape. Allow at least six hours for the full out-and-back to Eckert Bridge; no loop option is available.
