About This Trail

Loop route descending to the base of Shenandoah’s third-tallest waterfall, an 83-foot cascade on the South River. Spring snowmelt produces the most dramatic flow, and hikers gain 1,194 feet round-trip from the South River Picnic Area at mile marker 63 on Skyline Drive.

Getting There

From Charlottesville, enter Shenandoah National Park at Swift Run Gap. Drive north on Skyline Drive to mile 62.8. Park at the South River Picnic Area; the trailhead is at the back of the lot.
