About This Trail

Step Falls Preserve features a 1.1-mile trail along Wight Brook where a series of cascades drops nearly 200 feet over granite ledges, forming natural swimming pools along the way. The largest pool sits beneath a picturesque horsetail falls framed by birch, beech, and hemlock forest. A popular family destination, the trail gets busy midday in summer.

Getting There

From Newry, take ME-26 north approximately 8 miles. Watch for the Step Falls Preserve entrance on the right, just before the Wight Brook bridge. Park near the sign in the trees.
