About This Trail

Sutton Hole Trail is a short but scenic 0.3-mile path in Rabun County, Georgia, leading through a forest of pines and oaks to a beautiful spot on the west bank of the Chattooga River. The trail begins at the end of Woodall Shoals Spur Road and descends gently to Sutton Hole, a calm pool in the nationally designated Wild and Scenic River. This peaceful riverside destination is popular for fishing, picnicking, and simply enjoying the sounds of the flowing river. The Chattooga River, famous as the filming location for “Deliverance,” offers pristine beauty and excellent fishing for trout and bass. The short distance and easy terrain make this an excellent choice for families or anyone seeking quick access to the river’s beauty. The surrounding forest supports diverse wildlife, and the river corridor is home to numerous bird species.

From Clayton, GA, take US 76 east to Warwoman Road. Continue to Sutton Hole access on the Chattooga River.
