About This Trail
Warwoman Dell Nature Trail is a serene 0.5-mile interpretive loop in Rabun County, Georgia, that winds through one of the most beautiful wildflower areas in the North Georgia mountains. The easy, family-friendly trail follows alongside Warwoman Creek through a lush forest of hemlocks, rhododendrons, and diverse hardwoods. Spring is the ideal time to visit when the dell comes alive with trilliums, bloodroot, Solomon’s seal, and dozens of other wildflower species. The trail features interpretive signs explaining the ecology of this rich cove forest environment. Picnic facilities at the trailhead make this an excellent destination for a relaxing day trip. The trail’s name comes from Nancy Ward, a Cherokee woman known as the “War Woman” for her bravery, who lived in this area. The dell serves as a trailhead for the longer Bartram Trail, offering extended hiking options.
